Things to Note: Going Semana Santa in Seville
If you are planning to go to see Semana Santa Seville, Spain, here are some notes you may need to remember when you plan your trip. ⚠
Not only foreign visitors, visitors from all over Spain will go to Seville to see the best Semana Santa. So, it would be better to start planning the trip ONE year before the departure date.
The actual date of Semana Santa is according to the Easter period. Hence, it is different every year.
Be dress like going to Sunday church service. Don’t be like me wearing jeans. Wear something more formal.
Because of processions, there will be road blocks. Walking is the best transportation during the period. Therefore, a pair of very comfortable walking shoes is very important. Seville is not a large city, shops and most tourist attractions are centrally located in walking distance.
Procession routes are different everyday. For Seville, it will be around the Cathedral. If you would like to see procession by a specific brotherhood, you may need to check Semana Santa Sevilla.
Although routes are different everyday, but the hostel staff said it is about the same every year. Maybe asking the hotel/hostel staff can estimate the distance between the route and the hotel or hostel you are staying.
Book accommodation early. There will be a lot of conditions such as no refund or no change of date during the period. It took me extra time to search for just a bed of hostel. I book through HostelWorld.
Please note that it is Easter and it meant for holidays. Only supermarkets and restaurants open during the period. If you want to spend your shopping spree, only El Cortes Ingles (the largest department store chain in Spain).
Prepare Early!! Remember it is Easter and everyone go vacations. If you book your bed late you may ending up sleeping on the street.
Enjoy~
